Before the Valley Changes
At Jones Valley Farm in South Huntsville, a single hay bale anchors an open field beneath a pink and gold sky. I kept the distant hills soft and used thicker strokes in the trees and foreground, where the greens and yellows catch the light. The hay bale is a small detail, but it’s the one that makes this feel like a working farm to me.
As development changes South Huntsville, I find myself paying closer attention to views I once took for granted. I painted this one so the next generation could see something of the valley as I’ve known it: open fields, hills in the distance, and enough room to watch the light move across the land.
